Thought for the Day

Posted by adamswife on April 22, 2008

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass,
it’s about learning to dance in the rain!

~

I don’t remember where or when I came across this thought. I liked it well enough to save it for future posting. And today, apparently, the future has arrived.

I’ll be seeing my gastroenterologist this morning, having lunch with some high school friends, and then heading home. I wasn’t able to take care of everything that I had planned to do on this trip. I have to come back again in May. I did get some pictures yesterday that I’m anxious to share with you. I’ll be posting some of them during the next few days.

Have a great day! And – go on – dance in the rain!

New Beginnings

Posted by adamswife on April 12, 2008

The first new thing in my life today is my new mattress that I bought with my income tax refund. I really needed a new mattress – I wake up every morning when my back starts hurting beyond endurance.

This is the old mattress.

This is the new mattress.

What would a new mattress be without new sheets? These are bamboo. They feel almost like silk. Mmmmmm

Ready for occupancy

The bed has two sets of drawers under it. The new mattress is so thick it makes the bed tall enough that I need a stool to climb in – really.

The other new thing in my life is that I have become a Mary Kay consultant. If anyone needs Mary Kay products, just let me know. 🙂 I’ll have an MK website soon. When it’s ready I’ll post the link so you can all come and visit me at my virtual store – and get your colors done.

Mittens and Vacuums and Exercise

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

I have a number of things I need to tackle today. But first, something I completed this week. It all started back in January when my granddaughter, Jessica, came home from school with hands that were wet and icy. “Didn’t you wear you gloves?” I asked. “Yeah, gramma, but they got all wet and now my hands are freezing.” Being a good gramma I decided to knit her a pair of woolen mittens – wool is supposed to maintain its insulating properties when wet. Thus no more red, icy hands.

Then her brother decided he needed new mittens, too. So I knit another pair. Then the littlest brother had mittens that were too small – so he got a pair, too.

Finally, it was Emmy’s turn. Would I please knit her some mittens, too? About this time I started having the never-ending flu with it’s accompanying cough-til-you-gag. So work did not proceed very rapidly. But, this week Emmy’s mittens are finished. I would show you a picture, but she has them on her hands and has already left for school.

Today I have two major things to tackle.

  1. Vacuuming the floor. When I don’t feel well this is one chore that gets put-off. Consequently it is to the stage that I either have to vacuum today or get a scoop shovel next week. 😉
  2. Starting over on my diet and exercise plan. Another thing that goes by the way when I’m not well. I’m finally feeling better and intend to tackle squats/lunges for the Tight-Ass Club and 3,000 steps per day for Walker Tracker.

I think that’s enough to tackle for one Tuesday. Don’t you?

Conference

Posted by adamswife on April 7, 2008

I’ve spent the weekend listening to LDS General Conference. I have been inspired to take charge of all aspects of my life. I have always felt that being in tune spiritually is the first step in taking charge. When I get my spiritual life in tune everything else seems to just fall into place – exercise, diet, family relations, and my moods. I do not suffer from depression when I tend to my spirituality. So, today is a new beginning. Let’s see how well I do, and how long I can hang on to the inspiration and keep going. How far will this take me?

Good Morning!

Posted by adamswife on April 2, 2008

birds-in-thistle.jpg
I’ve been out for a short walk around the neighborhood this morning.  I’m excited – I found a few signs of spring.  I’ll be posting those pictures later.  Meanwhile, it’s time for me to use my inhaler and do some more of that RESTing that the doctor ordered.  Happy Wednesday to all my blogging friends!
