Weekly Winners April 13-19

Posted by adamswife on April 20, 2008

I went walking along the Green Belt by the Snake River looking for signs of spring. I found some good ones, and they are my Weekly Winners.

The ice is completely gone, but the run-off hasn’t started in earnest yet. When it does those rocks will be underwater. It’s early spring along the Snake River.

Birds and people are out in force to take advantage of the sunshine and warmer weather.

I don’t know how this guy thinks he’s going to fish with all the ducks, geese, and seagulls, but he’s checking out the equipment.

When the run-off comes I’m sure it will wash this old snag away.

I don’t know why the ducks and geese line up and stand on the edge of the weir. It’s a sure sign of spring when you see them there.

  1. They certainly look more spring-like than the winter photographs. That snag looks like it’s part of a beaver dam.

My husband fishes where the birds are. He says the birds hang out where the fish are. I hope you get some pictures when the spring run off starts. That would be awesome.

  3. Ah … it’s fun to see that the snow has melted finally. This is a lovely area to walk! I’ve done Unconscious Mutterings and Camera Critters today a Small Reflections … am giving HUGS all weekend at Sacred Ruminations. Be sure to check the video. It’s wonderful!
    Hugs and blessings,

Very well done Eve, I love the photos of the river! It is after all the same river that runs by me and yet we are so many miles apart. The Snake river has so many different views, all them awesome. Thanks for sharing these great images! 😀

These are some great photos, Eve! Wow, spring really is there and what a difference it makes! Why are the people still wearing parkas?

Those are the light-weight parkas. It was about 50 degrees F when I took these pictures.
