Lookin’ Out My Back Door – Take 2

Posted by adamswife on March 10, 2008

A month ago I posted these pictures of the backyard.  Today I thought it would be interesting to see what it looks like now.

The snow is melting; it is the promise of Spring.

Schnuckiputz expressed a desire to see pictures of our miniature dachshund.  So — He-e-e-e-re’s Rusty!

Rusty’s not used to having his picture taken.  He hasn’t learned to smile and say “cheese” or pose pretty like the Mexican.  I’ll have to take his photo more often and work with him on his camera skills.  lol

It’s grass! It’s grass! Spring is just around the corner!

How long does the snow season last up there? I last saw snow in Gillette on June 4 and in the mountains where we were camping on July 4. First iced windshield was in Montana just north of Yellowstone in the middle of August.

**Our first snow generally come sometime in October. It doesn’t stay around long. Three years ago this past weekend we had a terrific blizzard which dumped the most snow we had seen all season. We get our very last snowfall in April or early May, usually. The 9 years since I moved here we’ve mostly been in drought mode – not as much snow. This is the worst winter we have had. And this year has been cold enough that the snow has stayed on the ground since Christmas Eve when we got our first really big storm. We’ve got more snow predicted this week.

I can see almost your whole back yard. We are not quite there yet. I am cheered because we are not going to be far behind you. Did you hear about the poor people in Ohio? They got almost 2 feet of snow. Eastern Canada got slammed with snow too. Oh…I hope that does not come our way. I think it would be hilarious if Rusty learned to say cheese. I imagining the look on your face if he were ever to pull that off! LOL

**Actually that’s only part of the back yard. The other end and the middle are still pretty well snow-covered. This end must get more sunshine. It really made my day to look out and see all that grass!!

No snow here but it’s very stormy weather today, horrible!
You can’t even hold an umbrella and it’s raining at the same time too! I am wearing two sweaters and I’m still cold, it’s like the wind is blowing right through the walls and the windows! Brrrr!
It’s encouraging to see that snow finally melting huh?

  5. What a cute puppy (dog)!
